Crisa, a Spanish company recently merged into Astrium, Europe’s no. 1 space company and an industry world leader, is steadily expanding its activities into the audiovisual market. Since 1985, when Crisa was founded to develop and manufacture electronics and software products for aerospace applications (satellites, launchers, and ground stations), the company has accomplished more than 250 high-technology projects. After developing several fiber-optic links for ground stations and the Columbus module, within the International Space Station, Crisa has acquired extensive experience in fiber optics and digital multiplexing techniques. All this knowledge was taken profit by the mid-90`s, when the Vlink video transmission systems were specifically designed and developed for CCTV and broadcasting applications; a successful spin-off history.
