Environmental Science Associates

ESA prepares NEPA Environmental Assessments and Fee-to-Trust applications for Indian gaming projects. Additionally, ESA obtains environmental approval from BIA and NIGC.

ESA is a multidisciplinary environmental planning and consulting firm offering services in research, planning, and environmental analysis of a wide range of plans and projects for both public and private clients. The company has offices in Sacramento, San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles, California; Seattle, Washington; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Clearwater and Orlando, Florida with a growing professional staff of over 150 employees.

Since 1969, ESA has successfully carried out over 5,000 environmental reports and studies for its clients, and has developed an outstanding reputation for the quality of its services. This reputation has been built on the preparation of legally defensible Environmental Impact Reports and Environmental Impact Statements, in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). ESA’s success is based on our abilities to design and carry out complex field surveys, baseline investigations, modeling, mapping, and impact and mitigation analyses. In addition, ESA’s staff has thorough understanding of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies that govern environmental assessment and land use planning. ESA is also sensitive to the often conflicting interests and needs of project sponsors, planners, regulatory agencies, and local communities and neighbors.

ESA’s staff consists of urban and regional planners, geographers, economists, biologists, geologists, hazardous materials analysts, water resource specialists, chemists, meteorologists, physical scientists, and engineers. ESA’s major strength lies in fostering and managing the teamwork and coordination required to conduct effective interdisciplinary environmental impact analyses and mitigation design and monitoring.

With extensive project management experience, large staff, and established working relationships with many local, state and federal agencies, ESA can analyze large and complex projects efficiently and thoroughly, and within relatively short time frames if necessary.
