NTN Network Announces Launch of Additional Interactive Game Offerings

CARLSBAD, California--(Press Release)--April 5, 2001--NTN Communications Inc. (AMEX:NTN), the world's largest interactive television network for hospitality venues, today announced the successful launch of a variety of new interactive game offerings, including Playmaker Poker and Power Bingo, exclusive to the NTN Network.

The new games allow the NTN Network, NTN's hospitality business, to broaden its consumer reach at more than 2,700 DITV subscription locations as part of a strategy designed to provide broad entertainment offerings appealing to a wider base of consumer tastes and preferences.

The NTN Network introduced Playmaker Poker in late January 2001. Playmaker Poker is the first NTN game that is played solely on NTN's wireless game device, the Playmaker, and not in conjunction with an NTN Network broadcast. In just over 60 days, Playmaker Poker has recorded more than 16 million individual games played. Playmaker Poker has been accessed by approximately 80% of the NTN Network's DITV locations.

``While trivia and QB1 Predict the Play sports will always be the cornerstone of NTN programming, Playmaker Poker, the first of the new wireless Playmaker games, has significantly exceeded our internal expectations and is another strong advantage of our DITV system,'' said Mark de Gorter, president and COO of the NTN Network.

``By maintaining a steady yet focused flow of new programming, we will extend the NTN entertainment concept, and attract new consumers into our customers' locations, thereby adding value and broader acceptance to our network subscription services.''

This week, the NTN Network also released a new interactive game called Power Bingo. Power Bingo will become part of NTN's Manager's Choice collection of ``on-demand'' and ``selectable'' games, giving individual hospitality locations the ability to program selected games at their discretion if they believe there is sufficient demand for specifically targeted programming.

Said de Gorter: ``Many of our locations have indicated strong desire for Power Bingo, as they look to provide interactive entertainment in the early afternoon, after lunch but before happy hour, when their locations are frequented by a different demographic compared with our core trivia players. Making Power Bingo part of our Manager's Choice collection gives them the flexibility to put together Bingo promotions featuring local on-premise competitions to take better advantage of different dayparts.''

In a related item, NTN also announced that year-to-date comparative game-play data for its core trivia programming and play-along sports games increased 10% compared to 2000, independent of the 16 million games played on Playmaker Poker. NTN cites increased on-premise promotion and the introduction of QB1 XFL, a version of the NTN's play-along predictive football game run in conjunction with XFL broadcasts, as contributing to the increase.
