Debbie the Roboteer, Sculptor
I am a professional Sculptor and Repatriation Archaeologist. I am trained in Traditional Knowledge of the Plains and also Classical art training with 21 years of formal art schooling. I have exhibited and am in collections in museums, galleries, corporations and private collections world-wide. I create sculptures, fixtures, small and major water features, fountains, portraits and specialize in these areas:
Mid-Century Modern (I worked with Alexander Calder in the 1960s-70s, and restored Rat Pack places in Palm Springs,)
Classical Sculpture with a specialty in Portraits and Monumental work,
American Indian Arts and Crafts with an additional specialty in
Rock-Art of the individual Nations and the
Paleo-Indians of Turtle Island and Parrot Island
This includes techniques in weaving, basketry, tool-making, dying, jewelry, clothing, housing, and indigenous American technology and the crafts that supported it. t also includes conceptualized communication with focus on imagery.
Traditional Knowledge is just as important and valid as Occidental Science.
Modern is just as important as Ancient.
I am the first person in 35 years to carve gunnite and plastic cement like the old Disney styles. I also work with Venetian Plaster techniques. I have created or restored works for individuals, country clubs, hotels and resorts, Tribal entities, museums, galleries, corporations and other specialized works.
I am also a repatriation archaeologist and sensitive to specialized need.
I owned and operated a retail robot store in NYC called Robotorium, Inc, in the 1980s, importing or designing custom space-age and science fiction product. I have worked in the entertainment industry for decades behind the lens, and am listed in IMDb.com and tv.com for my work with Jim Henson. I was a member of the American National Standards Institute's Industrial Automation Planning Panel 1984-89 as a lightweight robotics applications consultant. I do curatorial work at SDAI in Balboa Park. http://www.sandiego-art.org. also work on Feature Films, Television Series, Advertising, Viral and Indi's (including Dark Crystal, Fraggle Rock, Labyrinth, Entourage, Into The Wild, John From Cincinnati, Next, The Great Buck Howard and other projects.)
I design and engineer as well as produce marketable products and materials. Included in that is the fact I program in 2D and 3D animation and have been working closely with computerized gaming for a decade and a half.
I design and engineer the project or can work from architectural, engineering or Tribal instructions and sketches, I read blueprints and specs, I can work with any agencies needing permits or other project specific paperwork. I work with the local contractors, specialists, suppliers, pool companies and gunnite/concrete providers for construction of any elements that take specialization.
I use green materials or recycled materials whenever possible, and I prefer involving and hiring additional artists and specialists from the area the work is to be installed. I involve and employ TANF and SOS/ROP during production whenever it is plausible so that the youth are directly involved and gain both experience and economic stability from the project. I enjoy working with the Cultural and Council divisions of the tribes to ensure the project is exactly what the People want it to be. I am willing to travel and work in any part of the Americas.
I work within the budget and time-frame to complete a project. We can always add more later.
I live and work in the United States and Sovereign Nations of America, but am willing to work in other areas. I am interested in working on foreign projects, but I prefer to do it in my locality and ship to countries not in the Americas. I have no problem with non-disclosure projects. I buy local on projects!

Interaction and participation of the community is encouraged during project development. Care is taken to keep the subjects true to cultural looks and real cultural traditional Knowledge is used for the production as is story and legend. Participation of local artists is encouraged for sculptural, woven, painted or other elements is also a part of the design and theme so that both the investment of cash and the actual experience creating the project give back to the local community.
