POSIFLEX Business Machines, Inc. released its JIVA 5000 series all-in-one touch terminals. This product line offers features such as a software controlled on/off switch to prevent accidental shutdown, optional internal UPS (uninterruptible power supply), and an integrated finger print/MSR (magnetic stripe reader)/smart card attachment. The JIVA 5000 series offers two separate configurations. The JIVA 5700 Thin-Client terminal is designed for applications that require less horsepower on the front-end terminal to run a POS application. The terminal supports embedded Windows CE and XP. The JIVA 5800 contains up to 40GB Hard Disk Drive and can be used as a thick-client terminal in a client/server setting and supports Windows 98/2000/XP Pro. “The JIVA 5000 series will allow our partners to offer an all-in-one touch terminal to gain market share against a standard PC solution by offering a smaller footprint and an aggressive price point. This series will allow our resellers to be more competitive when courting vertical retail markets where the standard PC solution has dominated,” says Tim Becerra, director of marketing at POSIFLEX. The JIVA 5000 series comes with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.
