2020 WSOP schedule features nine High Roller events

29 January 2020

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Who has $625,000 lying around burning a hole in their pocket? For those that do, they will love the 2020 World Series of Poker High Roller Series, a 9-pack of events tailored for those ready to test their mettle at the highest stakes. (Events with buy-ins $25,000 and up make up the High Roller Series)

The 51st Annual WSOP is set to take place from May 26 to July 15, 2020 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, and it won’t take long for the high roller action to commence.

While the BIG 50 $500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em will fill the Rio during the opening weekend of the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP), the high stakes players will also have an option this year, with a $25,000 buy-in 8-Handed High Roller No-Limit Hold’em event scheduled for May 29 at 3pm.

Over a week span from May 29 to June 5, the WSOP will host three high roller events, two $25,000 buy-ins and a $50,000 buy-in, all in the No-Limit Hold’em variant. The Heads-Up Championship will take place on May 31 and feature a $25,000 buy-in and a 64-player cap, while June 5 features a $50,000 buy-in.

The middle of this year’s WSOP schedule features a $25,000 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller on June 17, followed by the $50,000 buy-in Poker Players Championship on June 22 where the best all-around poker player will be crowned in the now nine-variant format. Next up is the $250,000 buy-in Super High Roller No-Limit Hold’em on June 27 – the highest buy-in event on this year’s schedule.

From July 7-11, the final three high rollers are scheduled, with a first-ever $50,000 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha event on July 7, followed by a $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em event on July 9. Concluding the High Roller Series will be a $100,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event on July 11, the second-highest buy-in on the 2020 WSOP schedule.

“We have something for everyone on the 2020 World Series of Poker schedule and the high rollers are no exception,” said WSOP Vice President Jack Effel. “The High Roller Series are great spectacles for the fans and a challenging series of events is sure to bring out the game’s best and those looking to take them on.”

All High Roller Series events will be 8-handed, with exception of the Head’s Up and Poker Players Championship.

The remaining events on the 2020 WSOP schedule are expected to be finalized in February.

A record 187,298 entries participated in the 2019 WSOP, creating a 50-year high of $293,183,345 in prize money. The average WSOP gold bracelet event in 2019 had a $3,257,592 prize pool.

Buy-ins for tournaments at the Rio in 2020 will start as low as $75. Single table satellites and all your favorite live poker games: low, medium and high limit will begin on May 26 and run 24 hours a day throughout the seven-week series taking place in the spacious Rio Convention Center for the 16th consecutive year.

Room reservations are being accepted across Caesars’ Las Vegas properties with rates as low as $33 for existing Caesars Rewards members by using the booking code WSOP20. Visit Las Vegas - WSOP to make your room reservations for the 2020 WSOP.

Individual event online pre-registration won’t open until April, after all events have been determined and approved by regulators. More than 500 poker tables will be set up across nearly 200,000 square-feet of ballroom space to accommodate the thousands of players from around the world who attend poker’s annual Woodstock.

WSOP.com’s real-money online poker offerings in New Jersey and Nevada will be the exclusive online home for players in these states to win seats into WSOP events, including the Main Event, as well as to participate in the exclusive online WSOP official gold bracelet events. While in New Jersey or Nevada, eligible players can play on WSOP.com, whether a resident or not. Satellites have already begun and run weekly throughout the WSOP. 888Poker remains WSOP.com’s international online poker partner in most jurisdictions, with plenty of satellite qualifications planned to award seats to the WSOP in Las Vegas.
