Buddy Jewell to Headline Hurricane Katrina Benefit Concert

TUNICA, Mississippi – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Boyd Gaming Corporation's (NYSE: BYD) Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall, located in Tunica, Mississippi, has announced a special benefit concert featuring country music star Buddy Jewell to assist with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The special charity event featuring the 2003 Nashville Star winner will be held Monday, September 12th at 8:00 p.m. in Sam's Town Casino's River Palace Entertainment Center in Tunica. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the Central Mississippi Chapter of the American Red Cross with Sam's Town contributing an initial casino donation of $15,000 to the relief fund.

"When you see the pictures of so many helpless people who have lost their homes, and many who lost loved ones as well, it puts a lot of life's little inconveniences into perspective," comments Jewell. "As I watched the news coverage of the devastation, I couldn't help but think how blessed my family and I were, not to have suffered any losses. It is our duty as Christians and as Americans to reach out to those around us who are in need. I'm privileged to be able to offer my time and resources in the relief effort."

In lieu of Hurricane Katrina, famous country artist Jewell wanted to make a strong statement about assisting with hurricane relief efforts and stepped up alongside Memphis' KIX 106, Sam's Town Tunica Hotel and Gambling Hall, and Memphis Motorsports Park. Jewell is graciously donating his time and talents at no charge for the special performance. After winning the 2003 Nashville Star, Jewell has been riding a wave of success selling millions of albums under his Columbia Recording label.

Radio station KIX 106 (WGKX-FM) in Memphis is spearheading the benefit concert. Tickets for this special concert started going on sale Friday, September 2nd for $10.00 plus service charges. Tickets will be available at all Ticketmaster outlets, phone centers (901-525-1515) and online at www.ticketmaster.com.

In addition to Sam's Town Tunica Casino's $15,000 check, the hotel is donating rooms and is covering related concert production costs. Sam's Town Tunica Casino, located on the Casino Strip just south of Memphis, has hundreds of hotel rooms and encompasses over 1.1 million square feet, with more than 90 percent of its facilities dedicated to non-gaming activities.

The popular speedway plans to have a portion of all ticket sales available for their NASCAR Busch Series Sam's Town 250 race on October 22nd sold at the concert to go directly to the Red Cross relief effort.
