Casino City Press releases North American Gaming Almanac

7 October 2015

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Casino City’s 2015-2016 North American Gaming Almanac and CD, released today by Casino City Press, reports U.S. gaming revenue increased by 2.71% in 2013, for a total of $96.42 billion.

The Almanac contains more than 700 pages on the North American gaming market, including profiles for each U.S. state and Canadian province, and nearly 1,000 revenue charts and tables. Property rankings are also included, listed by type of gaming activity and property, and number of gaming positions, machines, table games and hotel rooms.

Each gaming market profile includes a legislative overview, 2013 gaming revenue figures by type (commercial gaming, Indian gaming lotteries, etc.), 2014 monthly total gaming revenue figures for several states, gaming property counts, machine and table game counts and distribution, gaming property profiles by type and by location, property owner profiles and regulatory bodies.

“The North American Gaming Almanac is exceptionally helpful in obtaining a comprehensive view of the ever-changing gaming industry,” says Michael Corfman, Casino City CEO. “Uses range from developing benchmarks to analyzing competitors and industry trends, and the data is regularly utilized by financial and gaming analysts, market research consultants, casino operators, industry suppliers, regulators, libraries and universities.”

Key findings in Casino City’s North American Gaming Almanac include:

In the U.S.:

• Casino and card room gaming accounted for 43% of total gaming revenue, followed by tribal gaming (29%), lotteries (25%), and race and sports wagering (3%).

• The top two state performers in total gaming revenue were Nevada and California, with totals of $11.45 billion and $10.4 billion, respectively. New York ($6.07 billion), Florida ($4.95 billion) and Pennsylvania ($4.63 billion) rounded out the top five.

• Ohio experienced the most gaming-revenue growth, followed by Maryland, North Dakota, Maine, North Carolina and Illinois.

In the U.S. and Canada combined:

• Casino/card room gaming accounted for 46% of North American gaming revenue, followed by lotteries (25%), tribal gaming (26%), and race and sports wagering (3%).

• Lottery gaming revenue in North America experienced the greatest growth with an increase of 1.79%, followed by casino/card room gaming (1.67%) and tribal gaming (0.49%). Revenue from race and sports wagering declined slightly by 0.43%.

The North American Gaming Almanac CD version includes profiles and statistics for more than 1,800 gaming properties, plus over 220 annual reports, useful analysis tools, an interactive gaming property map and other features. A spreadsheet is also included on the CD, containing historical gaming revenue data back to 2000 for each gaming jurisdiction and associated gaming activity.

Together with Casino City’s Indian Gaming Industry Report by Dr. Alan Meister, the Almanac annually provides unrivaled coverage of gaming in the North American marketplace.
