Casino City’s Friday Five: Sports edition

8 June 2018

With sports betting coming to America, the FIFA World Cup beginning next week and the World Series of Poker humming along, the world of sports dominates this week's Friday Five. But let's start with the most timely (and for Vegas hockey fans, the most depressing) story of the week: 5. Top 10 tidbits about the Vegas Golden Knights run to the Stanley Cup Finals The incredible season for the Vegas Golden Knights came to an end without a Stanley Cup trophy last night when the Washington Capitals closed out the series in five games. Throughout the season the Golden Knights were extremely successful at home. However, in the Stanley Cup Finals, the Knights dropped two of their three home games. Despite not winning any hardware in the inaugural season, Vegas has to be proud of their NHL team and excited for the future with them. 4. Delaware launches full-scale sports gaming After a landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling back in May abolished PASPA, sports betting has been at the forefront of the gambling world. There have been a lot of questions about the ruling over the past couple weeks, but there was finally some real action earlier this week when the state of Delaware launched a full-scale sports gaming operation at all three venues in the state on Tuesday. Stadium Technology group is powering the single-game sports bets accepted in the state of Delaware. 3. Draftkings introduces daily fantasy sports product in Australia Beginning last week, players in Australia can challenge their knowledge of sports and daily fantasy sports skills against other players locally and from North American and Europe. It is a great time for this to be getting underway. The 2018 World Cup is less than a week away, and people will be all over any online gaming and betting that involves the World Cup. Australia did qualify for the 2018 World Cup and was placed in Group C. Having their home country participating will most likely draw more activity in DFS for customers in Australia. 2. Joe Cada takes gold in WSOP $3,000 NLHE Shootout Not one . . . not two . . . but three. Joe Cada won his third bracelet after being taking down the $3,000 NLHE shootout last week at the World Series of Poker. The 2009 WSOP Main Event champ fought off fellow WSOP Main Event bracelet holder Joe McKeehen in the final table of Event #3 this year. 1. Quasar Gaming World Cup promotion On the same day the World Cup begins, Quasar Gaming will host an interactive challenge called “2 Slots One Cup” aimed to bring casino and football together. Check out the fixtures table once the tournament kicks off and find out what slot has been assigned to which country. Try to guess the winning team and hit the reels on its corresponding slot to win super spins. This is another way online casinos help fans feel more involved in the World Cup by participating in a related game. And don't miss the exclusive offer to Casino City readers at Quasar Gaming where you can receive a 150% first deposit bonus. Get ready for the 2018 World Cup!
