Chang takes home WSOP $600 PLO8 6-Handed

17 July 2021

The first non-hold'em event of the 2021 WSOP schedule took place Friday evening with the 2021 World Series of Poker Online Event #16: $600 PLO8 6-Handed attracting 498 total entries to create a $268,920 prize pool.

After more than 11 hours of play, Allen "Acnyc718" Chang won his second WSOP bracelet and the $61,394 top prize after defeating Edwin "YungFlipWell" Roman in heads-up play.

The victory comes one year and ten days after he won his first WSOP bracelet last year in Event #5: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout. Chang, to The Hendon Mob, has $215,567 in live tournament earnings including a career-best $49,039 for finishing seventh in the 2010 Borgata Spring Poker Open Championship Event. As for the WSOP online events go, he has amassed $278,190 and two WSOP gold bracelets.

After Mike "Mkspresident" Shin exited as the bubble bout in 73rd place, the in-the-money eliminations came at a steady pace and included WSOP bracelet winner Ryan "Joeyisamush" Depaulo (49th - $1,103), Galen "turkmalloy" Hall (44th - $1,237), David "dwpoker" Williams (37th - $1,237), last year's champ Nathan "surfbum" Gamble (31st - $1,398), Yueqi "anoob" Zhu (18th - $1,990), and "tobi7bobi" (7th - $6,777).

Final Table Action

With six players to start the final table, one of them had to be the first to fall and that was Andrew "WATCHGUY42" Lichtenberger who flush flushed on the river by Chang. A few hands later, Chang continued with another elimination after he turned broadway to send Chris "pdx2nyc" Leslie-Hynan home in fifth place.

"PiggyBear" was up next on the chopping block after their pocket nines were straightened out by Edwin "YungFlipWell" Roman on the river.

With the final three players sitting fairly even, the action was slow for the first two levels until Chang started gaining traction once again, turning a queen to eliminate Ryan "Santasbzack2" Stoker in third place for $35,663.

The heads-up battle saw Chang hold the majority of the chips in play and made quick work of Roman to earn him his second WSOP bracelet.
