Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma donates $70,000 to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Video Gaming Technologies (VGT) and Gaming Capital Group announced today a joint donation of $70,000 to the Houston Food Bank to support the Hurricane Harvey relief fund. The donation will provide food and supplies for many months to come to residents in southeast Texas who are rebuilding their lives.

Choctaw Nation donated $50,000 from the proceeds of the Jake Owen concert at Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant and $10,000 each from VGT and Gaming Capital Group.

"The people of Houston are going through a catastrophic event," states Chief Gary Batton. "Choctaw Nation cares about our neighbors and tribal members that live near and far and hope this donation will bring much-needed support to the area so badly impacted by the hurricane."

There are approximately seven million civilians that have been affected by this storm, 3,400 are Choctaw Tribal Members.

Every dollar donated to the Houston Food Bank provides the equivalent of three meals for an individual. This donation will provide food for approximately 210,000 people.
