Dombrowski wins WSOP title, $346,332

20 June 2013

Chris Dombrowski won the latest $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em title at the World Series of Poker event at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino for $346,332, beating a field of 2,108 players.

"I've been dreaming about this since I first started coming out here six years ago," said Dombrowski. "To finally get it done is great."

Dombrowski is no stranger to success at the poker table, either in a live setting or online. By 2009, he was already among the top performers and earners in the online world. However, following the restrictions of so-called Black Friday, Dombrowski has been playing more live poker as well as going abroad to play online. He calls Tampa, Fla., his home, but he's more likely to be found at a major tournament or linked to a computer somewhere in Canada.

Dombrowksi is accustomed to playing for high stakes and making big scores online. He's pocketed six-figure wins multiple times, a background he says helped him maintain focus while playing at a WSOP final table for the first time.

Prior to playing poker for a living full time, Dombrowski was a college student at the University of South Carolina. He loves what he does and insists he's in the game to stay. When asked if he plans to be playing poker for a living 10 years from now, he replied “I hope so!”

No doubt, as long as he keeps booking big wins and winning gold bracelets, Dombrowski can enjoy living life on his own terms.

Mathew Moore finished second to claim $215,578, Jesse McEuen was third for $149,850, and Dimitar Yosifov was fourth for $107,922. Other final table finishers included Carter Myers (fifth), Chis Bolek (sixth), Matt Seer (seventh), Mike Pickett (eighth) and John Thompson (ninth).

The top 216 players finished in the money. Notable players who cashed but did not make the final table included: Antonie Saout (34th), John Racener (36th), Randy Lew (39th), Todd Terry (98th), Jonathan Aguiar (112th), Andrew Lichtenberger (133rd), and Scott Clements (178th).
