PokerTek System Approved in California, UK

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- (PRESS RELEASE) --PokerTek, Inc. (NASDAQ:PTEK) has received regulatory approval to distribute PokerPro(TM) tables in both California and the United Kingdom.

California hosts the largest concentration of poker tables in the world. There are approximately 1,300 poker tables in operation in the state. These poker tables are currently installed in over 100 large card clubs, small card clubs and Native American Casinos.

Hollywood Park Casino, one of the three largest card clubs in California, has agreed to be the first in the state to install PokerPro(TM) tables. "The impact that this technology will have on our industry is enormous. We currently have 75 poker tables in our poker room We will add as many PokerPro(TM) tables as required to meet player demand," said Leo Chu, President and Owner of Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood, California.

"Large card clubs and small card clubs alike will benefit from the PokerPro(TM) system," said Kermit Schayltz President of the Golden State Gaming Association and owner of Lucky Derby Casino, a card club in Citrus Heights, California. "The boom in poker has been tremendous for the small card clubs. However, the moratorium on new poker tables in California has limited our options for growth. The PokerPro(TM) table allows us to dramatically grow our business with current customers and attract an entirely new demographic of poker players."

In addition to card clubs, California is the single largest Native American Gaming market in the United States. There are approximately 400 poker tables in operation in this market. The recent approval from the California Division of Gaming clears the way to install PokerPro(TM) tables in the California Native American gaming market.

Across the globe, Aristocrat (PokerTek's exclusive distribution partner outside the U.S and Canada) is making great progress. Through Aristocrat's efforts, PokerPro(TM) has received regulatory approval from the British Gaming Commission for use in British Casino/Card Rooms. "With only 180 poker tables currently in operation in the U.K., we envision a huge growth opportunity for PokerPro(TM) especially considering the power of Aristocrat's sales and distribution," said Lou White.
