Second proposal for Edwardsville casino

EDWARDSVILLE, Kansas -- As reported by the Kansas City Business Journal: "A second developer submitted a possible proposal for a destination casino in Edwardsville, Mayor Heinz Rodgers said Wednesday.

"But Butler National Corp. wouldn't commit to saying its intentions were for a casino.

"Olathe-based Butler requested a zoning change for a 140-acre site, part of which was planned for the $250 million Kansas Landmark Tower project, Rodgers said. The site is on Riverview Avenue, southwest of Interstates 70 and 435.

"Late Wednesday, Butler issued a release saying that it had filed a zoning change request that would allow the land to be used for a lottery gaming facility, hotel, indoor ski slope and other amenities.

"...Butler, which creates support systems for aircraft, has a gaming-management subsidiary called Butler National Service Corp..."
