Seminole Gaming to host stops during 2017/2018 WSOP

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Seminole Gaming announced its partnership with the World Series of Poker (WSOP) to host two events during the upcoming 2017/2018 WSOP Circuit season.

The two series, which will take place at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, in fall 2017 and at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek in winter 2018, mark Florida's only WSOP Circuit stops.

• Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood – 21 September - 2 October 2017.
• Seminole Casino Coconut Creek – 8-9 February 2018.

"We've been really impressed with what the Seminole poker team has been able to do with poker in Florida," said WSOP executive director Ty Stewart. "We look forward to working with them to bring the WSOP Circuit to Coconut Creek and Hollywood and help grow the market even further."

This season represents the first time Seminole Gaming and WSOP will collaborate in a co-branding partnership. Presenting this caliber of poker play at two of South Florida's premier casinos, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, is expected to attract poker players from all over the world.

"As we continue to grow our poker brand throughout the state of Florida and globally, the partnership with WSOP proves a natural fit for Seminole Gaming, further establishing our position as a premier destination for top poker play."

The two Florida Circuit events will see its tournament champions earn the WSOP Circuit's token prize: a gold ring. Additionally, two participants at each stop earn a free $10,000 entry into the WSOP Circuit season-ending Global Casino Championship where they'll compete for their share of more than $1 million and a WSOP gold bracelet. The first entry will go to the Casino Champion – the player whose performance earns the most points according to the WSOP's points model, while the second entry goes to the Main Event champion.

Both Main Events are also points eligible in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker (SHRP) Player of the Year race, a cumulative performance-based points race in all SHRP Championships. The Player of the Year will be awarded a prize package which includes buy-ins valued at over $32,000.

The 2017/2018 WSOP Circuit schedule features a record 26 stops. Including Florida, a total of 13 states will be visited this season with the cumulative entries expected to surpass the Las Vegas version of the WSOP.
