Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu wins fifth WSOP bracelet

ONCHAN, Isle of Man -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu today won his fifth World Series of Poker (WSOP) Bracelet and AUD $1,038,825 (USD $1,079,443) in the Main Event of the WSOP Asia Pacific at Crown Casino in Melbourne.

The prize takes Negreanu’s all-time career tournament winnings to more than USD $17 million, and helps him to further secure his sixth position on the all-time money winning list. He becomes just the nineteenth player globally to win five or more WSOP bracelets.

Daniel Negreanu is one of the world’s most famous poker players, winning his first WSOP bracelet in 1998 at the age of 23. At the time, he was the youngest player to ever win a WSOP bracelet. Over the last 15 years, he has worked hard to keep winning tournament after tournament, competing against the best to become known as one of the most successful poker players in the world.

“I can’t put into words how happy and relieved I am to win my fifth bracelet. It’s been a long time coming. I have been working hard and it feels great to see it pay off like this,” said Negreanu.

Negreanu’s win caps off a very successful weekend for Team PokerStars Pros. Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody won the UKIPT Series 1 event at the PokerStars LIVE poker room at the Hippodrome Casino in London, while Team PokerStars Pro Matthias De Meulder won the first stop of the Belgian Poker Challenge in Middelkerke.

Daniel Negreanu’s next big tournament will be the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monaco in May.
