The Isley Brothers head to Gold Strike Casino Resort

6 July 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Rock and Roll hall of Fame Inductees The Isley Brothers bring their You Make Me Wanna Shout – 60th Anniversary tour to MGM Resorts International’s Gold Strike Casino Resort’s Millennium Theatre on Saturday, 13 July at 8 p.m.

The tour celebrates the 60th anniversary of The Isley Brothers’ first gold single, “Shout,” released on 21 September 1959. After the group left its initial mark on R&B charts with “Shout” – which would sell a million copies – they scored a No.1 R&B hit with “Twist And Shout” in 1962. Both songs were later covered by The Beatles. It was 1969’s “It’s Your Thing” that cemented their fame, shooting to No. 1 on the Billboard R&B chart and ultimately selling more than five million copies. The song also earned a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance.

Ensuing No. 1 hits included the Billboard R&B chart-toppers “Fight The Power (Part 1),” from 1975, and “Don’t Say Goodnight (It’s Time For Love)” from 1980, as well as the songs “That Lady (Part 1)” (1973), “The Heat Is On” (1975), “The Pride” (1977), “Take Me To The Next Phase” (1978), “Showdown” (1978), “I Wanna Be With You” (1979), “Smooth Sailin’ Tonight” (1987) and “Spend The Night” (1989). The biggest hit of their career, “It’s Your Thing,” won a Grammy for Best R&B Vocal Performance, marking the start of a period in which they dominated the black-music realm, placing 50 singles on the R&B chart between 1969 and 1988.

Their career has been highlighted by No. 1 hits, both singles and albums; more than two dozen gold, platinum and multiplatinum singles and albums; countless awards; and The Isley Brothers’ induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
