What drives investment in social gambling, and does it need regulation?

23 August 2012

LONDON -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- After the success of the first Social Gambling Meetup, iGaming Business will be organizing a second free event exploring the world of social gaming further. To be held on the 12th of September at the Google Campus building in London, this event will once again balance networking with learning, ensuring all attendees leave satisfied.

The following topics will be discussed in the next upcoming Meetup, which anyone can join by simply going to http://www.meetup.com/Social-Gambling/:

Regulating casino-style social games (Debate): The U.K. is considering the regulation of social casino-style games. Does social gambling need regulation? Is social gambling redefining the legal definition of gambling? What would regulation mean to platform providers like Facebook? What impact would regulation have on the future of the social gambling industry?

What drives investment in social gambling: Social gambling is the darling of the tech investment community, but what drives investors to this space and what do investors look for when analyzing investment opportunities in this sector?

Plenty of positive feedback was given on the first event, with most delegates enjoying the idea behind the event and the networking. Gordon Anderson, a consultant in the Mobile & Digital field, stated, “Really busy and vibrant group of social gambling folk. Plenty of start-ups, publishers and experienced players in this evolving market.”

Peter Ward, CEO of Quizzino Ltd, made the following comment on the first event: “Excellent meetup of like-minded professionals.”

The 12th of September Meetup precedes The Social Gambling Conference, which will be held in November and will be hosted over the course of one day with a full schedule of conference topics in discussion. More information on the full conference can be found here: www.SocialGamblingConference.com.
