World Poker Tour hits Oklahoma casino

(PRESS RELEASE) -- World Poker Tour announced today that the newest addition to the WPTDeepStacks event schedule will be at Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant, Oklahoma from 27 October - 8 November.

A longtime World Poker Tour partner, this marks the first time a WPTDeepStacks event will be held at Choctaw Casino & Resort - Durant. The $1,100 buy-in WPTDeepStacks Choctaw Main Event is scheduled to run 5-8 November.

“We have an established partnership with the WPT team and are looking forward to hosting our first WPTDeepStacks Tournament at the property,” said Bob Barnes, Choctaw Casino & Resort–Durant Table Games Manager. “After you make your play at the Grand Theater, enjoy our new smoke-free poker room in the Sky Casino, which includes 29 poker tables and promotions running Sunday through Friday.”

Choctaw Casino & Resort–Durant first hosted a WPT Main Tour event in Season XIV and has been a valued partner since. In July, Dapo Ajayi topped a 964-entry field to win Season XIX WPT Choctaw and the $558,610 first-place prize money. The $3,272,780 prize pool blew away the $1 million guarantee.

“Poker players have always turned out in force for our WPT Main Tour stops in Choctaw,” said Cathy Zhao, Senior Director, Global Tour Management. “We’re excited to bring the WPTDeepStacks brand to the property and give poker players of all bankroll sizes the opportunity to experience the property and a first-class tournament product.”

The event carries many other perks as well. All layers who finish in the money will receive WPTDeepStacks Player of the Year leaderboard points. The player who finishes the season atop the leaderboard receives a $10,000 WPT Passport for any WPT live event, up to four nights of complimentary accommodations at select WPTDeepStacks North America stops, and a custom trophy from the World Poker Tour. The WPTDeepStacks Choctaw Main Event Champion also receives a $3,000 package for the season-ending WPTDeepStacks Championship.

The event will give many players their first opportunity to enjoy the $600 million renovation that the resort recently underwent. This includes the brand new 21-story Sky Tower, which offers 1,000 additional luxury rooms.
