WSOP: Third day narrows Colossus field to 39

2 June 2015

LAS VEGAS — After 10 hours of play in the World Series of Poker's $565 Colossus event on Monday, 506 players were whittled down to just 39 on Day 3 of the largest live tournament in poker history.

The tournament was originally scheduled to play down to a winner on Tuesday, but with a record-setting 22,374 entries at the start of the tournament, the winner likely won't be decided until Wednesday. The winner will take home $638,880 and a WSOP bracelet.

Bustouts were fast and furious on Monday. When players reached the dinner break after six hours of play, there were just 105 players remaining, and the field was more than halved over the final four hours of evening play.

Raymond Henson, who finished 12th in the 2007 WSOP Main Event, is the chip leader with more than 7.4 million chips, while Aditya Prasetyo is second with more than 6.8 million. Mike Leah — the only former bracelet winner left in the field — is still in contention with 2.2 million. Kenny Hallaert (nearly 3 million), Brandon Shane (2.7 million), Ryan Laplante (more than 2.65 million), Joshua Field (1.8 million) and Eugene Lang (more than 1.7 million) are also still in the tournament.

Of the 39 remaining players, 18 are making their first WSOP cash, including Bill Graybeal, who sits in fourth with a bit more than 5 million chips. Thuy Kawano, the last woman remaining in the field, is in 11th with a little more than 3.1 million.

Play will resume at 2 p.m. PT on Tuesday at the Rio.
