A few months ago I built myself a personal site for three reasons: 1. Experience building a WordPress site with AI from start to finish 2. Test ideas around AI, agents, and WordPress in the real world 3. To finally have a personal site 🙂 Since then, I’ve documented the entire journey through blog posts, a changelog, a detailed “how this site was built” guide, and several open-source plugins. But the homepage didn't clearly communicate any of that. Well, I just updated it to reflect the site's purpose and I'm pretty pleased with the result. Check it out! miriamschwab.me

WordCamp US that’s a wrap! Thank you to all the organizers, volunteers, speakers and sponsors for making this an inspiring and meaningful event 🙏. Community gatherings like this are so important for the future of WordPress and open source, and we at Elementor grateful that we could be supporters both as sponsors and speakers. The first pic below is the "before" version of us - fresh and put-together and ready to roll. The second pic is the "after" - exhausted and happy as we cleared out of our gorgeous booth (btw I always find it a bit sad to say goodbye to our booths at the end of conferences). WordPress is the biggest PHP-based project out there, and yet the connection between these two open source projects hasn't always been very tight. At one point I learned that PHP uses WordPress for testing (not sure if that's the still the case), and of course WordPress runs on PHP, but that seemed to be where the relationship started and ended. That's why it's great news that Anne McCarthy, Architect and Open Source Director for Automattic, has joined the board of the PHP Foundation 👏 These two OS projects are very important to how the web operates, and its future as a free and open platform. Joining forces, and improving collaboration, can be a boost for everyone, and I'm excited to see how this goes. thephp.foundation/blog/2026/08/0…

AI agents don't browse the web the way we do - they read it and act on it directly and as a result, a new layer of the web is being built right now. In less than two weeks I'll be giving a talk at WordCamp US 2026 in Phoenix on what that means for WordPress: "The Agentic Web Is Coming. Is WordPress Ready?" WordPress runs 41% of the web, which gives it a real structural role here, and it's ready for it. Someone at work was testing building full Elementor pages with Angie AI and asked it to insert YouTube video placeholders on the page. Guess which video Angie randomly picked to be the placeholder? Even after twenty years of building with WordPress, I'll be surprised about things I didn't know it can do. Like how it has native core functions for handling front-facing forms, and there are a few approaches you can take with it. My personal site has a native form, but I thought there was only one way to do it.
