Multicom began in 1975 as a small sound system contracting company, specializing in music systems for nightclubs and restaurants. A few years later, the opportunity to design and build a sound system for a small cruise line came, which was quickly followed by several more. Now that Multicom was in the marine business, we grew rapidly. Product development was now in the offing as Multicom was the first to introduce integrated sound systems for marine vessels in 1980.

In 1992, Multicom started manufacturing the line of marine communications systems that you see today – the ICS series was born. Multicom further enhanced the integration of all shipboard systems with the introduction of the AEVADS systems for the casino and ferry industry. Multicom provided the equipment for almost every riverboat casino in the United States – and now we concentrate on communications systems for both water based as well as land based casinos around the world.

The Automatic Emergency Voice Alarm Direction System (AEVADS) is a monitored PA/GA/Voice Evacuation system that integrates the public address system directly with the fire panel. It gives you prioritized paging, general alarm, and safety and automatically directs your passengers away from fire-affected zones in the event of an emergency. In everyday operation, it acts as a high-quality digital public address system for paging and announcements, or even background music. In the event of a vessel emergency, the general alarm function overrides and the alarm tone is sounded through the speaker system. Wherever you would have placed a sound powered telephone in the past – you would instead utilize a METS Emergency Telephone. The other areas of the vessel, you would treat like a normal telephone system with either a feature telephone or a standard analog telephone. The system functions normally as an automatic dial telephone system for daily communication. If an emergency arises, the METS locations now act as your emergency telephone system, similar to the way the old sound powered telephones did.
