Yoti was founded by Robin Tombs, Duncan Francis and Noel Hayden in 2014. Robin and Noel are no strangers to verifying people online - as they previously founded and operated one of the largest online gaming companies on the planet - Gamesys. Gamesys was sold to Intertain in Canada in 2015 and then Bally's acquired the entire business in 2021.

Our passionate team of software developers, security consultants and other clever minds work to improve the way people share their personal information, online and in person.

We began in 2014 by building a free consumer app that puts your ID on your phone. The Yoti app is designed with privacy at its core, giving individuals a safe way to share personal details with businesses and individuals.

Today, we have over 11 million app downloads around the world. We’ve expanded our offering to a suite of business solutions that span identity verification, age estimation, e-signing and AI anti-spoofing technologies.

This is not a journey we make on our own but with policy advisors, think tanks, researchers, academics, humanitarian bodies, our users and everyday people.

The Yoti app will always be free for individuals. We make money by charging businesses to check the identity details of their customers.

Our systems are built in a way that means only the user can access their data, which means we cannot mine or sell user data to third parties.

Give your customers a convenient way to prove their identity using the free Yoti app. The future-proof form of ID Digital ID gives your customers a convenient and privacy-friendly way to prove who they are to your organisation with the Yoti app. They only need to verify their identity details once with Yoti to create a reusable digital ID they can use to instantly access your services. Customers share just the details you need and nothing more. Already accepted at thousands of stores and websites. Interoperable with the Post Office EasyID app. Secure log in without a password for returning users. Users add a government-issued ID document and take a biometric selfie to create their reusable digital ID. Once verified, they simply scan a QR code or tap a button to share only the details your organisation needs. Any information a person adds to their Yoti app can be verified by us so you know they’re genuine. As well as information extracted from a government-approved ID document, we can also verify details they manually add like contact details. All these details are securely encrypted and stored in their Yoti app where only they can access them. Our systems are architected using PKI technology, which means a user’s data can only be accessed by the user. Any details a user adds to their digital ID are split up, individually encrypted and safely stored in Yoti’s database. Users are in control to share specific details, rather than sharing their whole ID. Only the user has the key to unlock their encrypted details. This key is stored safely on their phone and not on the Yoti database. Your customers will feel safe sharing less data and you can ensure you’re complying with the GDPR principle of data minimisation.
